Celtic loanee Timothy Weah has hinted that he could return to Parkhead on loan next season as he plans talks with his family over his future.

The attacker joined the Hoops on a temporary deal until the end of the season back in the January transfer window and has been a regular squad player, with 15 appearances to his name so far, the majority coming as substitute outings.

Speaking of what lies ahead this summer, Weah, who has eight caps for the USA, admitted it would have to be a family decision and that they would discuss where he will be playing next season, hinting he would be happy to move back to Glasgow.

He told the Scotsman: “It’s really up to the family. We just have to discuss it and see what opportunity best fits me and is best for my career and future. Who knows? There’s always a possibility I could have another spell at Celtic.

“Right now, I’m just focused on finishing the season, helping the team try to win the treble again and hopefully getting one or two more goals. It’s been great for me at Celtic so far. I’ve taken every moment that I can stretch out of it. I’ve made three starts, a lot of sub appearances and scored four goals.

“I’ve got what I was looking for when I came here in January. I’m gaining experience and playing with a great group of guys. It’s really been amazing so far. Hopefully, we can finish the season the way we want to and I can have a season to remember.”

Opinion

Four goals and one assist is not a bad return for a player who is picking up minutes here and there but the question has to be asked as to whether he can be a constant threat for the Hoops throughout an entire season. Weah might be happy playing backup to the Celtic squad now but as his career progresses he will want to be playing more and more football, which is why he has got to prove himself before the current campaign is out. It seems as though the teenager would be happy to return and if Celtic themselves want him back then there should be no trouble thrashing out a deal with PSG, who are unlikely to use him in the first team much next season. Still, it could all depend on who is in the dugout at Parkhead, for a new manager might want to take things in a different direction without Weah as part of their squad.
