Consistency has been something which has been lacking quite drastically in north London this season with both Tottenham and Arsenal struggling to tighten their grip on a top four spot.
The Lilywhites are currently leading the chase behind the Premier League’s top two but instead of snatching a win to all but seal it as their own versus West Ham, they allowing the Irons to inflict the first defeat at Spurs’ new stadium.
Arsenal meanwhile were unable to capitalise on their rivals’ stumble, suffering a defeat of their own against Leicester City.
With the two north London clubs now seemingly evenly balanced – just four points separating the pair – it should come as little surprise to hear that they are chasing the same transfer targets ahead of summer, with Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser said to be the in-demand ace.
The Mirror claim that the wide man has been a contract rebel on the south coast and that talks over extending his stay, with a deal that expires in the summer of 2020, have collapsed, leaving the Cherries looking at selling him this year rather than losing him for nothing.
It is said that Arsenal are serious suitors for his capture but that Tottenham have joined the chase for the man who leads the Premier League’s assist rankings with 13 – and he is a player who would boost either club this summer.
For that reason, Spurs need to make sure it is them and not the Gunners who get a hold of his talents this year, for losing out to Unai Emery’s side would only see the already narrow gap close further.
Fraser is a winger who would be perfect for Mauricio Pochettino with his standout work ethic and never say die attitude melding perfectly with his quality and talent on the ball.
Winning Fraser’s signing would definitely help keep north London Lilywhite for another season.
