COMMENTARY

Fans hoping for another electric start between Manchester City and Tottenham after their enthralling Champions League tie were not disappointed on Saturday afternoon as the two sides met again at the Etihad Stadium. This time it was City’s Phil Foden who opened up the scoring early on, Sergio Aguero showing his selflessness to set up the youngster with a smart header across goal. Unsurprisingly the Tottenham faithful were less than impressed with the quality of their defending and it was Colombian international Davinson Sanchez who took much of the brunt, finding himself marking space instead of a City player when the initial cross came into the box. It was by no means the most impressive piece of defending the Premier League has ever seen and considering Spurs started the game with three centre backs, it is almost inexcusable City managed to get not just one but two headers in the box. Perhaps it was inexperience, perhaps it was rustiness, but Sanchez let Tottenham down early on.
