OPINION
Tottenham got off to the perfect start in their new home on Wednesday night after a dazzling opening ceremony wowed the fans in attendance. They beat Crystal Palace 2-0 with goals from Heung-min Son and Christian Eriksen putting them back into third in the table.
Many Tottenham fans were also wowed by the performance of Moussa Sissoko, who’s been a surprise star for Mauricio Pochettino this season. He spent most of last season getting pelters from the supporters but he returned to Tottenham a transformed player after the 2018 World Cup.
He was brilliant again on Wednesday night, starting so much of the play for Spurs and making vital interceptions. He was the scourge of Crystal Palace, who were largely ineffective because of the 29-year-old France international.
No one would have thought that Sissoko would have been one of the first names on the Tottenham team sheet after last season, but fans are loving their new hero and flocked to Twitter after the game.
However, one fan tempered his praise, saying he was only standing out because so many players were under-performing.
Here are the best reactions from elated Tottenham fans:
Fair play to Sissoko, many saying player of the season
He’s improvement is amazing but come on others have been underwhelming & it’s making him show out
Just heard Deeney on talksport – made me think plenty of lesser prem names could have done a better job in this Spurs side

Thought Sissoko was brilliant yesterday. Defensively he was a brick wall.

Decent performance given all the hoopla, Eriksen and Trippier both stepping up at last, Sissoko terrific, two scrappy, deserved goals, one unbelievable stadium. Is it really ours? #COYS #THFC

The cameo from Harry Winks last night was great. He's showing such composure and his first touch is superb. So glad we've got him back for the run-in. Equally you can see the confidence change in Sissoko. He's constantly showing for the ball and always positive in his work #THFC

Moussa Sissoko was unreal tonight. Absolutely dominated the midfield, and ran the game.
Have you seen a better transformation from a player? ? #THFC #COYS

If it wasn't gna be Kane, then Son would've been second choice. Sissoko class yet again (probs as he didn't have a shot). So happy we're home! On to the next game ? #THFC #COYS
