Toby Alderweireld might be playing his final few games for Tottenham in the final few weeks as he edges towards entering the final 12 months of his contract in North London. According to the Guardian, a £25million release clause will be active in his contract once the transfer window opens so understandably, that has many Spurs fans worried that they might be losing a key player before next season starts. After Spurs’ 1-0 win against Brighton on Tuesday night, Alderweireld took to his personal Twitter account to say he loves a last-minute winner. Christian Eriksen won the game at the death for Tottenham, but fans who replied to Alderweireld’s tweet weren’t interested in that, all they wanted to do was to urge the former Ajax centre-back to sign a new deal with the North London club. Who can blame them? Alderweireld is one of the best centre-backs in the world. Tottenham need him badly.
