OPINION

Rangers managed to deny bitter rivals Celtic the Scottish Premiership title for yet another week after their 2-0 win over Aberdeen on Sunday.

James Tavernier netted two penalties to ensure of all three points for Steven Gerrard’s men, a game that raised debate after a controversial incident involving striker Jermain Defoe and the Aberdeen goalkeeper.

Gerrard would have learned a lot about his players following this win, and he will surely be looking to the match against Hibernian next Sunday with the hope that his team can deny Celtic the title for yet another week.

Here, This is Futbol has rounded up the three things learned about Rangers’ win v the Dons:

Gerrard has unleashed a gem in Kamara

Glen Kamara has really come into his own since joining the Gers from Dundee in January – his all round ability has improved dramatically, and he is starting to establish himself as part of the furniture for Gerrard now. It is hard to envision him not being in the team on a regular basis, and that will surely be the case next season as well. The 6ft [Transfermarkt] dazzler is clearly a star in the making for Rangers – and long may it continue.

The team do not miss Morelos

Striker Alfredo Morelos is currently out due to suspension after his recent red card, but the team did not seem to miss him one bit on Sunday. Clever passes between the likes of Kamara and Scott Arfield completely opened the Aberdeen defence up, which shows that Morelos is not needed to provide the team’s attacking threat. Gerrard now has players who can fill the void if he is not there, which is a step in the right direction.

Kent sublime once again

Ryan Kent may have been taken off in the second half, but the difference he makes while he is on the pitch is just invaluable. He has that quality that perhaps some of his teammates do not have yet, and the need to sign him on a permanent basis from Liverpool is now greater than it has ever been. The winger’s touch and ability on the ball surely earned him many admirers on Sunday, and rightly so – he was sublime.
