On the whole, Tottenham can’t have an awful lot to complain about after last night’s stunning Champions League progression against Manchester City.

They might have lost on the night, but they managed to score three goals, got a decent dollop of fortune with the VAR , and ultimately made it through to the last four of the competition.

It was absolute dreamland for the fans, and certainly a result that will be remembered for years and years to come.

Next up is a fascinating clash against Dutch giants Ajax, and while that may be the nicest draw of the round on paper, this is a young, hungry team who have unceremoniously dumped out both Real Madrid and Juventus in recent weeks.

They are to be feared, and Spurs will need all the help they can get from their main men to see themselves through to the final in May.

With Harry Kane injured, creative duties have largely fallen at the feet of Son Heung-min.

The 72 cap South Korean international was again sublime last night, scoring twice and looking like a real threat every time he got on the ball.

Disappointingly though, he did pick up a booking, meaning that he will be out of the first leg against Ajax.

That in itself is bad enough but, as reported in the Daily Mail, the forward only realised that his caution meant a suspension in his post-match interview.

To not realise the consequences that his actions could have in such a massive game for Spurs is rare moment of oversight from Son, and a real piece of needless folly.

Had he known, would he have been more cautious? Only he can say, but being without him could cost Pochettino’s men big time.
