Everton’s thumping of Manchester United last weekend will obviously go down as a memorable aspect of the club’s season.

One player who was particularly splendid during that 4-0 pummelling was midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, who firmly sent a message to the likes of Tom Davies and James McCarthy with a sublime display.

However, that could not be further from the truth in their 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday – the 29-year-old was a complete shadow of himself, something which the fans must have been startled about.

Just where had the player who had caused United all sorts of problems gone? Well, he was nowhere to be seen by the second half of the clash. He clearly failed to build upon his sterling display last Sunday, which is a rather big shame.

He had the chance to cement his spot in the team once and for all with an assured performance, instead he has just blown the door wide open for his teammates to come and sniff around.

Marco Silva will surely be alarmed with this woeful display from his £100,000-a-week [Spotrac] star. He has been really consistent lately, but that just went to pot against the Eagles. If he cannot show that consistency, then Silva will not hesitate to include other players in his plans next season.

The Frenchman made a series of sloppy passes throughout the game, which is rather unlike him in the slightest. He did grow into the game a little bit, but not in the manner in which he would have liked.

He will obviously be kicking himself for not building upon last weekend, a game which was surely one of his best displays in an Everton shirt for a very long time.
