Alan Shearer has named a trio of Everton players in his Premier League team of the week.
The Toffees ran riot in a 4-0 humiliation of Manchester United at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon, and Premier League legend Shearer saw fit to single out Seamus Coleman, Lucas Digne, and Gylfi Sigurdsson for praise.
Digne and Sigurdsson both scored with stunning long range strikes, while captain Coleman put in a fine display at right-back.
Shearer’s team of the week was announced his team on the week through his Twitter account on Tuesday.

OPINION
Lots has been said about Lucas Digne and Gylfi Sigurdsson in the aftermath of Everton’s win on Sunday, but it’s nice to see Seamus Coleman getting some attention as well. There have been times this season when the Irishman has looked off the pace, and it was refreshing to see him put in a performance more reminiscent of his form three or four years ago. On his day, Coleman can still be a top level full-back, one who is defensively solid and attacking minded, but far too often this campaign he has been caught lacking, and he has taken his fair share of stick as a result of that. If he can replicate the performance he put in on Sunday on a weekly basis, however, that would hugely alleviate any concerns that his career may be beginning to wind down. He has been a fine servant for Everton, and hopefully one with a decent future ahead of him too.
