Rangers manager Steven Gerrard could see a trio of his starting XI versus Celtic sidelined through suspension with Ryan Kent facing retrospective action for his clash with Scott Brown, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claim on their website that the match officials missed the Ibrox star lashing out at the Celtic captain shortly after the Hoops had scored, Kent himself having found the back of the net with an impressive solo effort.

As such, it is stated that Kent faces the prospect of joining Alfredo Morelos and Andy Halliday on the sidelines through respective bans, the duo having been sent off for incidents involving Brown.

Opinion

It would be fair to say that Scott Brown got the better of the Rangers stars both on the pitch and in their minds. He would have known he would get a reaction out of Morelos, the Colombian a known liability when it comes to his discipline, but he also managed to trigger something in Kent and Halliday. Whether his behaviour is morally right or within the spirit of the game is up for debate but seeing as it does not break any rules, the Rangers players should have kept a lid on things. Instead Gerrard now faces the prospect of missing not one, not two but three of his starters for their upcoming games. The manager might be fuming with Morelos and understandably so but there are clearly disciplinary issues running throughout his squad. Derby day brought out the worst of his side and they are going to pay the consequences.
