Rangers fans want more first team action for Middleton

COMMENTARY

Scoring goals against Celtic at any level is going to have any Rangers player heralded by the Ibrox fathful and so Glenn Middleton’s brace for the reserves on Monday has understandably put him in the spotlight once again. The 19-year-old was actually a regular among Steven Gerrard’s first team in the opening half of the season, including appearing in every Europa League group game, but he has been seen just twice in the side since December – once in the Scottish Cup clash versus Cowenbeath in January and again in the Premiership outing against St Johnstone. It seems as though he has fallen down the pecking order but as a teenager he has plenty of time to climb his way back up to playing for the first team. His goals against Celtic’s reserves will no doubt have caught Gerrard’s eye as they have done the Rangers faithful, who are urging his return to the senior set up on Twitter. After sinking the Hoops, you can understand why.
