Morelos should be worried

Alfredo Morelos has probably taken up more column inches than any other player in Scotland this season.

Whether it has been for his sublime finishing in front of goal, or his tendency to see red seemingly every other week, the Colombian has stirred up buzz and controversy in equal measure at Ibrox this term.

His Jekyll and Hyde persona has, however, left Steven Gerrard with a big decision to make this summer.

Should he persevere with the 22-year-old in the hopes that he matures a little and cuts adrift his disciplinary issues, or does he cash in now while his profile is on a high and reinvest the money elsewhere?

It’s a tricky question, and one that will no doubt divide the Ibrox faithful down the middle, but if the latest transfer report from the Express is to be believed, perhaps Morelos should be worried.

According to the report, the Gers are interest in Croatian striker Mirko Maric, and have been scouting the 23-year-old for months.

Maric has hit 16 goals in his home country this season, and is the top scorer in the top division.

The report suggests that he is being eyed up as a player who could potentially ease the workload for Morelos, but then goes on to claim that the South American could be sold.

The uncertainty is indicative of the lack of surety surrounding Morelos’ future, but as the season draws to a close, talk of his exit seems more and more pertinent.

Only time will tell, but the hitman could be approaching the end of his stay in Glasgow.
