Ryan Kent is facing a two-match ban after being issued with a notice of complaint following the explosive Old Firm clash on Sunday.

Kent seemingly threw a punch at Scott Brown, or at the least pushed his hand into his face, but this wasn’t seen by the match officials.

Alfredo Morelos had already been sent off for elbowing Brown and left-back Andy Halliday received a red card in the tunnel after the game following an altercation with the same player.

Sky Sports Scotland reported the news and said Kent was due for a fast-track hearing on Thursday.

OPINION

This doesn’t come as a surprise. With the incident caught on camera as shown in the tweet from Sky Sports Scotland, it was only a matter of time before this caught up with the loanee winger. With a hearing set for Thursday, Kent will be able to play the game against Hearts tomorrow night but then he’ll likely be out of action for the two games. His guilt isn’t really a matter of conjecture. We weren’t expecting Scott Brown to be hit with any charges but we’re disappointed. He was at the centre of all three of the incidents involving Rangers players and that was no coincidence. He got Morelos sent off for tripping him from behind and provoked the extreme reaction from Kent, who is normally not that sort of player. Halliday got his red after objecting to him celebrating so vociferously near to the few Rangers fans that had been allowed in the ground. Unfortunately, you can’t face retrospective action for unsporting behaviour and a lack of class.
