OPINION
Pre-season friendlies. Like them or loathe them, they usually live up to their name. Two teams with one eye on the the new season and one half of their brain still on the beach, they tend to be plodding, laconic affairs littered with the occasional new signing and a decent smattering of youth prospects. Most fans aren’t bothered in the slightest by them. After all, where’s the fun in football if there’s nothing at stake? Celtic fans have, however, taken it upon themselves to demand something a little less friendly a little more, well, unfriendly this year. The Hoops announced on Twitter that they will be travelling to Austria and Switzerland for a run of exhibition matches over the summer, but many supporters responded making it very clear what they actually wanted: a meeting with Leicester City. The Foxes have become an unlikely target of much anger from the Bhoys after they took Brendan Rodgers away from Parkhead earlier this season, and it would seem that fans want an opportunity for vengeance against the former Premier League champions. The chances are very, very slim, but just imagine the spectacle. It would be the most full-blooded, feisty friendly seen in a long time
?? #CelticFC will travel to Austria and Switzerland at the end of June and into early July on its pre-season training camp. ????
