Former Rangers player Alex Rae thinks that Celtic midfielder Scott Brown will be hit with a notice of complaint after seeming to stamp on St Mirren’s Jim Kellerman.

Celtic went on to win the game 2-0 but, talking on the BT Sport coverage of the game (Wednesday, 7.45pm), both Chris Sutton and Rae said that Brown should have received his marching orders.

“He could have avoided treading on him – yes he could, red card,” Sutton said and Rae agreed saying, “He [Sutton] gets it absolutely right because you can clearly see he [Brown] could have easily put his foot over the other side and avoided that contact.”

After the game, Rae added another message on Twitter saying, “A canter for Celtic tonight over to the compliance office now. Duckens Nazon + Scott Brown will be expecting notice of complaint.”

Nazon, the St Mirren attacker, seemed to throw at elbow at Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer, but again the referee took no action.

Rae sent the message on his personal Twitter page on Wednesday night.

OPINION

Brown is making the headlines for all the wrong reasons at the moment. He might have got away with his antics at Celtic Park, but he lost the respect of a number of people after goading several Rangers players into altercations. Alfreddo Morelos and Andy Halliday were sent off, and Ryan Kent has a hearing set for Thursday after the referee missed an incident with Brown off the ball. He’s likely to get a two-game ban. Brown might get the same after the stamp on Kellerman, with the BT Sport pundits convinced he should have been sent off. The Scottish authorities are working on overtime at the moment but it’s always next-to-impossible to predict which way they’re going to go. We’ve seen the Brown incident and we agree with the pundits – if the referee had seen it he would surely have sent Brown off. And after his actions at the Old Firm game, we think it would be justice of sorts if he had to serve a ban.
