Charlie Adam has taken to Twitter to blast the SFA’s decision to move Scott Brown’s disciplinary hearing, calling the whole thing a “shambles”.

The Celtic captain faces a potential two game ban for failing to “act in the interests of Scottish football”, and had initially been due to face a hearing on May 2nd.

If the ban had been imposed he would then have unavailable for the final Old Firm match of the season.

As reported by Superscoreboard, however, the hearing has been brought forward to April 26th at the request of the Hoops.

Responding to a tweet detailing this, former Rangers midfielder Adam initially said: “Interesting”.

When pushed on why he though it was interesting, he said: “So when you get sighted (sic). Basically you can pick and choose when you’re suspended. Shambles.”

OPINION

To be honest, Adam has a point hear. What’s the point in a ban if you can get around the system and face it whenever you want to? It all seems a little bit strange to be honest, and you have to wonder why the SFA have agreed to move the hearing in the first place. In fairness, May 2nd is quite a wait for the player to face the music, but if the governing body have set that date, they can’t be seen to move it just because a club ask them to. As for Celtic fans, they won’t care about how upset Adam is, they’ll just be buzzing that they should have their leader back in time for the final Old Firm of the season. After his incendiary performance last time that should certainly make for interesting viewing, and for another high octane instalment in the bitter rivalry. The SFA do need to be careful, however. This could be taken as precedent, and if they are seen to pandering to the big clubs, it won’t be long before there is proper uproar.
