Sky Sports pundit Liam Rosenior has been bowled over by the performance of Christian Eriksen against Brighton and has heralded his transformation since the start of April.

The Danish ace scored the all important winner against the Seagulls, launching a long range shot into the bottom corner to snatch all three points and keep a hold on a top four finish.

It also retained Spurs’ 100 per cent record at their new stadium, which was opened at the start of the month and Rosenior has highlighted just how improved Eriksen has been in his new surroundings in north London.

He told Sky Sports‘ post match coverage (23/04, 21:50): “I think it’s just a world class moment from a world class player. It’s an incredible strike on his supposed weaker foot and when you’re fighting and tired and you’re going deeper and deeper, you’re going to give up shots from outside the box.

“That’s an absolute arrow into the bottom corner and since he’s come into the new stadium he’s flourished in this environment, he’s an absolute world class player and you need that when you’re playing against a team who have defended as well as Brighton have done.”

Opinion

Eriksen has certainly not been at his best this season but it does appear as though he has taken to the club’s new ground like a fish to water. Whether it is the atmosphere, the improved facilities or maybe just a boost in confidence, there is no doubting that Spurs are glad he is finally starting to show his best again. His performance against Brighton was by no means the best he has ever produced, taking a number of pot-shots from in and around the area and struggling to break down a very resolute defence. However, his class shone through when it mattered and his thunderous strike was worthy of winning any game. That is what world class players bring to their side and when everyone wearing white was struggling to get the goal they needed, he took to the plate and delivered. Whether he will be plying his trade at the new Spurs stadium next season remains to be seen, but Tuesday was a reminder of what Tottenham would lose if he was to leave the club.
