Rangers are set to offload attacker Joe Dodoo this summer when his loan spell at Blackpool ends, according to Football Insider.

The reputable football site reports that the 23-year-old has been considered surplus to requirements by manager Steven Gerrard, which means that he will be sold despite scoring six goals in 25 appearances in this campaign, as well as contributing four assists.

Dodoo’s current contract with the Gers expires next year, but the club will entertain offers for him this summer after spending two seasons out on loan.

Good move for Rangers?

Yes, this would be a good move for Rangers. Seeing as he has spent the last two seasons out on loan, it is clear that he is not going to a play a big part in the club’s future. Yes, he has impressed during his current loan stint, but he is miles off the standard required to do well at a club like Rangers. He is better off moving somewhere permanently, where is going to get a lot more game time, rather than being farmed out all the time.

Likely to happen?

Yes, it is likely to happen if this report is anything to go by. The report says that he is surplus to requirements under Gerrard, so the likelihood of him going is very high indeed. Seeing as he has excelled at Blackpool, then it would not be surprising if they attempted to sign him permanently in the summer. He clearly enjoys playing his football there, so a move would essentially benefit everyone in this scenario.
