Everton loanee defender Kurt Zouma is set to be frustrated this summer by parent club Chelsea as he looks for a deal to keep him at Goodison Park, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim on their live transfer blog (13:50) that the French international powerhouse is happy on Merseyside and is wanting to stay with Marco Silva’s men but that he is set for a move back to Stamford Bridge and play a first team role for next season.

The claim comes after a report from the Liverpool Echo who claim that Everton are keen on sealing a permanent deal for his capture but that the London club’s transfer embargo means he could be forced to stay at the Blues and be among the senior side.

Opinion

Zouma will not be the only player left tearing their hair out this summer if Chelsea do find themselves banned from signing any new talent. An embargo would mean that the Blues are forced to rely on the players already on their books and as one of the most experienced and talented footballers out on loan, Zouma would be front of the queue to play backup to the senior stars. There is every chance Chelsea would not have allowed him to leave even if they were not facing a ban. At 24-years-old he has plenty of potential and could be moulded into a first choice centre back if he were to remain with the former Premier League champions. He has enjoyed a good season at Everton – which is exactly why the club are keen on snapping him up permanently – and has shown he has what it takes to thrive in the top flight. One to watch for the Everton faithful this summer.
