West Ham United are keen on a raid for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper reports on their website that Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini is a big fan of the Spaniard, while director of football Mario Husillos is confident that he could fit straight in.

The report adds that Pedro Obiang could leave in the summer as several Serie A sides are interested in him, one which includes Roma.

Ceballos – who has made 33 appearances this season – could be available for £18 million.

Good move for West Ham?

If this means that they are finally able to be rid of Obiang, then a move for Ceballos would be a great move. He is clearly a very technically gifted midfielder, and his versatility could win over a lot of fans. His attacking ability is just what the Irons need – a central midfielder who is not afraid to get forward could propel them up the Premier League table next season. At £18 million, he is someone that they could easily sign.

Likely to happen?

Yes, this is a move that could happen – providing that no other clubs provide competition to West Ham. Obiang leaving is just the thing that could set a move in motion, and to be honest, his departure does look rather likely. The Irons would not have any problems stumping up the money to sign Ceballos, and at £18 million, they would be mad not to go in for him. Real Madrid see him as surplus to requirements, so they will be keen to get rid of him too.
