Tottenham have set their sights on Spartaks midfielder Chikezie Miracle Nwaorisa, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Italian news outlet reports that Spurs are one of many clubs keeping an eye on the 18-year-old player, who is currently plying his trade in the top division of Latvian football.

The report states that Tottenham are joined in their interest by La Liga side Villarreal and Croatian outfit Dinamo Zagreb.

Nwaorisa – who is in line to play for the Nigeria under-20s in the World Cup this May – would cost around £1.3 million.

Good move for Tottenham?

It is rather hard to judge whether the youngster would be a good move for Spurs this summer. He has only made three appearances and scored one goal for his club this season, which is not a lot to go on really. Mauricio Pochettino is good at nuturing young talent, but it remains to be seen whether Tottenham have a serious interest in a very unproven player. He may have potential, but is it worth the risk?

Likely to happen?

This is a hard one to call. Tottenham would have no problem in stumping up the £1.3 million fee required to sign him, it is just a case of whether they are beaten to his signature by the other clubs that have been credited with an interest. Two other clubs are keen, but how serious is their interest? It is puzzling why the club are after a midfielder who is yet to prove himself. Latvian football is hardly the highest of standards either, so it is questionable whether Spurs will sustain their interest.
