Tottenham fans react to Llorente display

OPINION

How many times have Tottenham left it late this season?

They did it again last night against Brighton and this time it was Christian Eriksen who sprung them from jail with a fantastic strike in the 88th minute of the game.

They hadn’t looked much like scoring before with a shot from, of all people, Toby Alderweireld the closest they’d come against a dogged Brighton side, intent on seeing out a 0-0 draw.

And the Tottenham fans blamed a lot of that on striker Fernando Llorente, who suffered through one of his most ineffective displays we’ve seen.

Llorente is good at one thing – using his height – and he was given nothing to attack on Tuesday night. Beyond that he always seems at odds with the players around him when he plays for Spurs, and we can’t see him staying beyond the summer.

He only ever gets a run-out when Harry Kane is injured and we think Mauricio Pochettino needs to find someone more effective and more “Tottenham” going forward.

Plenty of Tottenham fans agreed with us last night – here are the best reactions on Twitter:
