Tottenham are now clinging onto third spot in the Premier League after suffering their first defeat in their new stadium on Saturday.

Michail Antonio netted in the 1-0 win for the Hammers, a result which now means that the likes of Chelsea or Manchester United can chase down their third spot.

Spurs face Ajax in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday, and in order to have the best possible chance of gaining an advantage over the Dutch giants, Mauricio Pochettino must make four changes to the side that lost on Saturday.

In goal, Hugo Lloris must keep his place.

In defence, Jan Vertonghen must be recalled to his usual spot in the starting XI, but this must come at the expense of Davinson Sanchez. This is not because the £65,000-a-week [Spotrac] Colombian was particularly bad on Saturday, it is just Vertonghen is the most reliable player in that position.

Juan Foyth should be replaced in what must the second change for Spurs, and in his place should come Kieran Trippier, as he has a lot more experience playing in Champions League ties.

Ben Davies must also be dropped, which means that Danny Rose must make the switch from midfield back to his usual role at right-back.

Victor Wanyama must come into the midfield to replace Davies in the starting line-up, and this is to make sure that the team are better equipped defensively.

Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli must also keep their places, as they could prove to be the gamechangers in attack with the absence of Heung min-son.

Son will be suspended for this match, which means that Fernando Llorente must be trusted to lead the line with Lucas Moura – if Llorente can play anything like he did in their last European tie, then it would be a no-brainer to start him in this one.

If Pochettino makes the right calls with his starting XI, then there is every chance that his team will be able to blitz their way past Ajax on Tuesday.
