Alan Shearer heaped praise on Tottenham attacker Heung-min Son for his performance in the 4-3 win over Manchester City.

The Premier League icon dubbed the latest display of the 26-year-old magnificent and highlighted that he caused Man City all sorts of problems in the first half.

Shearer also added that Son still excelled even when moved onto the left-wing in the second half despite being asked to do more work for his side.

“The way he (Son) had to switch positions, he was causing them all sorts of problems when he was in that free role in the first-half,” said Shearer on BBC Radio 5 Live (22:06, Wednesday April 17th).

“Then he moved on to the left-hand side and had to do a little bit more for the side, a little bit more for the team but then also still gave them an option going forward.

“And I just thought he was magnificent.”

OPINION

Shearer was blown away by Son during Wednesday’s game and that shouldn’t surprise anyone. The 26-year-old was a bundle of energy throughout the match despite the game being played at a ridiculously fast pace. Son appeared to have the legs to constantly track back to help Spurs’ defence before springing forward to get into a position where he could potentially score a goal for his side. Son was running so much that people were probably exhausted from watching him. Hopefully the 26-year-old has enough left in the tank though as Spurs cannot afford to drop the ball anytime soon. The London club are still in an intense race to finish in the top-four in the Premier League and they face a tough task on Saturday as they’re set to clash with Man City once again. Pep Guardiola’s side are likely to be even more dangerous as they will be seeking revenge after being knocked out of the Champions League.
