Dean Saunders heaped praise on Tottenham attacker Heung-min Son and shared a strange stat about him in the process.

The talkSPORT pundit shared that Son had scored 20 goals this season, pointing out it was more than Harry Kane if you ignored penalties, and that he had got ten with his right foot as well as ten with his left foot.

Saunders also listed Son as one of Spurs’ potential match-winners alongside Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli.

“They’ve got four or five players who can win a game at any opportunity, Eriksen, Dele Alli, Son is on fire and playing out of his skin,” said Saunders on talkSPORT, as seen in a clip uploaded to the broadcaster’s Twitter account.

“Strange stat about Son, he has got twenty goals this season, Harry Kane has got twenty-six so seven penalties, so Son has more than him.

“And he has got ten with his left foot, ten with his right foot and no headers, and he gets twenty every season, what a player.”

OPINION

Saunders was so blown away by Son that he got distracted talking about him. You feel the pundit would clearly consider Kane a potential match-winner for Spurs and didn’t end up naming him in his list as he just seemed happy to talk about Son. So happy in fact that he proceeded to take a sly dig at Kane over the fact he only had more goals than his teammate due to being the club’s penalty taker. However while Saunders’ sly dig was unnecessary, his praise of Son was completely justified. The Spurs winger has been in tremendous form this season and has regularly come to the rescue of Mauricio Pochettino’s side, particularly when Kane has been unavailable due to injury. As for Saunders’ ‘strange’ stat on Son, it’s not really strange once you see the player feature week-in-week out. The 26-year-old’s ability to score with both his left foot and right foot is predictable as he doesn’t seem to favour one foot ahead of the other, which makes him a threat anytime he gets near goal.
