Tony Cascarino has claimed that he has heard that Harry Kane will be available for Tottenham’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Ajax.

Spurs face the Dutch league leaders on Tuesday night, before travelling to the Netherlands on May 8th for the return fixture.

Kane has been ruled out with ankle ligament damage since the quarter final first leg against Manchester City, but Cascarino claims that he could be back in time for that crucial clash in May.

Speaking on talkSPORT (April 27th, 7.45am), he said: “I’m told that Harry will be back for the second leg of the Champions League game, Ajax away.

“I’m told they have a real chance of him making it. They will need Harry against Ajax.”

OPINION

If this is true it would be massive for Tottenham. Kane is, without a doubt, the most important player in the squad when it comes to these big games, and having him back would be a huge boost. The England captain is capable of winning games singlehandedly, and on his day, he could roll Ajax over on his own. That being said, there has to be some concern over his rehabilitation time. It feels as if time and time again he does his ankle, and every time it happens, it seems as if he comes back in a shorter and shorter period of time. That can’t be good for his body in the long run, and you just wonder whether he is being forced back quickly to put the needs of the side before his own. You would hope that isn’t the case, but if it is, then Spurs need to be very, very careful or they risk their brightest star burning out.
