COMMENTARY
Many Tottenham fans couldn’t believe that a £40million price tag had been slapped on Kieran Trippier’s head. The Daily Express reported on Saturday that Spurs had made the defender available for sale this summer but were set to demand £40million in order to part company with him. Given that reliable football website Football Insider claimed Daniel Levy wanted £50million for Trippier, then it’s easy to believe that Spurs are seeking a huge pay day if they opt to sell him. Given that one Spurs fan believes the club will be lucky to get a packet of crisps for the England international while another suggests they couldn’t give the player away, it shows the uphill battle Levy has getting the defender off the books. However the Spurs chairman has always been a tough negotiator and has pulled amazing deals out of the hat in the past, so if someone can get £40million for Trippier then it is him.

If anyone’s watched him this season, we’ll be lucky if someone was willing to swap him for a pack of crisps.

Ridiculous pricing. £20million-plus would represent a good deal. Only cost us £3.5million, so the profit is sizeable. Levy surely can't make the same mistake he did in the summer 2018?
