Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye is likely to have clubs calling for his services in the summer after wowing this season.

The 29-year-old has been fantastic across his 32 appearances this season and given how he seems to have more energy than a Duracell Bunny, he is a player that every team would love to have.

In fact the Toffees should already prepare themselves to face a battle to keep him as according to Buzz Sport Olympique Lyonnais are already considering making a move for him this summer.

Lyon could offer Gueye an opportunity to play in Europe and compete for a league title as they’re regularly among the contenders trying to be crowned Ligue 1 champions.

This will no doubt be a tempting option for him if it emerged, but surely the Toffees will be just as tempted given how much he is potentially worth.

Toffees legend Neville Southall was reminiscing about ‘The Dogs of War’ which was the name given to Joe Royle’s team in the 90s due to their pitbull-like determination, and claimed every member of that squad would be worth £100million each.

“I reckon our dogs of war would be worth £100 mill each because they all run themselves into ground every game nobody does now and you can not buy anyone too they don’t exist,” wrote the legend on his Twitter account.

This comment about the value of each member of Royle’s Dogs of War, prompted a fan to point out that Gueye would fit into that team, and Southall simply replied “yes” to show he agreed.

With this in mind Southall is suggesting that Gueye is worth £100million and he is completely right to do so, as there are few players who can run a midfield like Gueye can.

However given that Southall is right to suggest that is Gueye’s valuation then surely Everton will be tempted to part with their star midfielder if someone is bold enough to agree to stump up his true valuation.

This is because at the age of 29-years-old his value is only going to dip in the coming years as teams to tend to avoid investing in older players and due to the fact that Gueye previously showed he was open to an exit in a February interview with L’Equipe.

“It is a dream that sadly did not come true,” Gueye told the French newspaper.

“Every player works to join the best teams, to play in such matches in the Champions’ League. But I was honoured that PSG were interested in me.

“Now, I know that I am of interest to these types of clubs, that I am ready to go to the final level to join a top European club. I am going to work even more so that they come back to me. Maybe it is not finished with PSG.”

Given those two points and Gueye’s potential price tag being enough to add a least a couple of top-class players to Marco Silva’s side, it has to be an option the Toffees are considering.
