Chris Kamara has heaped praise on Newcastle United forward Ayoze Perez, claiming that he is getting “better and better”.

The Spaniard hit his first hat trick for the Magpies in the 3-1 win over Southampton to take his tally to 11 for the season, and Kamara was eager to highlight his fine run of form.

Speaking on Goals On Sunday (Sky Sports Premier League, Sunday April 21st, 11.20am), he said: “He won’t want the season to end. He just gets better and better.

“Absolutely flying. Him and Rondon seem to have some kind of partnership going.

“The reactions for his third goal was absolutely brilliant.”

OPINION

Perez has been wonderful over the past few weeks, and it’s nice to finally seem him get some credit for his performances. The Spaniard is in the most prolific run of form he has ever put in in a black and white shirt, and Magpies fans will be hoping that it doesn’t stop any time soon. Aside from anything else, the quality of his all round play has improved massively, and whereas there was a time not too long ago when he would dawdle through matches and look almost disinterested, he now, consistently, looks like Newcastle’s most dangerous threat going forward. The signing of Miguel Almiron, plus his partnership with Salomon Rondon has helped immensely, but on an individual basis, the quality he is showing at the moment is a perfect example of why he has been such a top drawer signing for the Toon Army over the past few years.
