OPINION

You almost have to feel sorry for Kyle Walker. The Manchester City full-back must have felt like the most unpopular man in the ground at times during his side’s 1-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday lunchtime. The former Spurs man was never going to carry much favour with the visitors, and for large parts of his outing, he was so poor that he wasn’t overly popular with his home fans either. The defender has his plus points, there can be no arguing with that, such as his frightening pace and his willingness to push forward, but he also has some really glaring flaws in his game as well. Nine times out of 10, it seems as if he gets into decent crossing positions, only to waste the opportunity  and balloon the ball out of play. For a side as good as City’s that’s just not good enough. You can’t help feeling that if Pep Guardiola does look to upgrade his squad, he could be one of the first casualties. It’s not that he isn’t a good player, it’s just that there are question marks over whether he is good enough for Man City. At the end of the day, when you’re building the kind of dynasty that Pep is, there can be no questions.
