COMMENTARY
Many Liverpool fans took to Twitter to tear midfielder James Milner to shreds for his display against Porto on Wednesday. It seems even though the Reds won 4-1, supporters still had a bone to pick with the veteran. A couple of fans were so incensed by Milner’s performance that they urged him to leave the club. While the midfielder, who earns £140,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac), wasn’t at his best against Porto as he was uncharacteristically sloppy in possession, he wasn’t so bad that supporters should have been calling for his head. In fact for one Reds supporter to dub Milner washed up was ludicrous as even though he has lost a yard of pace in recent seasons, his excellent passing range and work-ethic makes him still very useful to Jurgen Klopp’s side. Also aside from what he directly offers on the ball, Milner has proven this season that his experience and leadership skills make him a vital presence to have on the field.
