Everton defender Brendan Galloway is likely to exit the club in the summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The regional newspaper claim that the 23-year-old left-back has improved under David Unsworth this season after previously struggling with fitness, being void of confidence and generally struggling for form.

The Liverpool Echo report that Galloway may have played his part in the Toffees’ U-23s winning the Premier League 2 title this season but that doesn’t mean he can have the same hope about his future at the club, as some of his teammates.

Good move for Everton?

Yes.

Galloway may have broken into the Toffees’ first-team previously, managing to make 21 appearances, but you feel he hasn’t kicked on.

The 23-year-old defender’s form and confidence completely collapsed during disappointing loan spells with Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion, and he hasn’t been able to truly recover.

While Galloway has managed to improve to get back to the standard that he was originally at that got him an opportunity for the first-team, it’s a little too late for him.

At the age of 23-years-old, he needs to be ready for Marco Silva to call upon and you feel that the Toffees boss would simply feel extra nervous with Galloway in his backline.

With the defender looking like the player he once was, even if it’s in the Premier League 2, at least the Toffees may have one club come in for him in order to hand him a chance.

Likely to happen?

Yes.

Galloway was given his opportunity in the first team previously, and that means the Toffees can have no hesitation in permanently offloading the defender.

The 6ft 1in tall left-back (Source: Transfermarkt) struggled in the lower divisions while out on loan, and Silva is trying to move the club forward not backwards.
