Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin may be doing a sterling job up front for the team, but that does not disguise the fact that they desperately need to sign a forward this summer.

Their attacking woes have been all too real for the Toffees fans this season, with the lack of a serious frontman not doing them any favours earlier on in the campaign.

Their other striker, Cenk Tosun, has contributed minimally this season. Whenever he is brought on, nothing happens – sometimes you can hardly tell that he has been introduced to the game.

Well, many of the Everton fans will surely be jumping for joy after Football Insider reported that Marco Silva is set to offload the 27-year-old in order to raise funds for a decent centre-forward this summer.

This is just the news that the supporters would have been wanting to hear. They obviously wanted the club to spend money on attacking players in the January transfer window, and when this did not happen, many of them must have panicked.

They can now rest easy, as the search for a frontman looks to be firmly on the cards. However, the Toffees will surely want to recoup some of the £27 million that they paid for the player last season, a price tag that he certainly does not warrant now.

That sum of money looks like a staggering amount when you realise that Tosun has not lived up to the fee in the slightest. At what stage of his Everton career has he looked like a £27 million player?

Getting rid of the £60,000-a-week [Spotrac] flop is just what is needed – Tosun has been a complete and utter waste of time.
