Spanish heavyweights Barcelona are plotting to raid Everton for Richarlison in a deal which will cost more than £43million (€50million) this summer, according to Marca.

The reputable Spanish publication claim on their website that the Brazilian ace has been a long term target of the transfer team at the Nou Camp and that he has remained on their radar while other targets have fallen away.

It is stated that the winger will cost in excess of £43million if the La Liga giants were to make a move, but that his non-EU status, having yet to qualify for a European passport, is a hurdle which could see him remain at Goodison Park.

Opinion

Losing Richarlison after a season would be yet another big blow for Everton, who have seen the likes of Romelu Lukaku depart for bigger and brighter things in recent years. The Toffees do not want to be a selling club but a big money deal might be too tempting for the board, who will feel they could use that money to improve their side even further. If Barcelona do come calling, then it is going to be very difficult to convince Richarlison to stay on board, for the chance to play at the Nou Camp does not come round very often. Turn them down now and who knows if they will return to sign him again in the future. The Toffees can expect plenty of interest in his capture from a number of big name clubs – but they will surely be doing what they can to keep him on board after his blistering form this season.
