There was drama for Leeds fans on Friday lunchtime – of the unwanted kind unfortunately – as Marcelo Bielsa dropped the bombshell that Kemar Roofe was out injured for the Aston Villa clash.

Bielsa had already been forced into a change with the season-ending injury to Ezgjan Alioski and he stated that Stuart Dallas would play at left-back.

However, in a dramatic twist he revealed that Kemar Roofe would also miss out with a hip injury. That means that Patrick Bamford should continue to lead the line.

There’s plenty to play for on Sunday, despite fears from most fans that automatic promotion is out of their reach now.

Sheffield United could slip up against Ipswich, but even if they don’t, Leeds will want to halt the incredible run of Villa, who are already guaranteed a play-off place. The two sides could end up meeting in the final and if Leeds do the double over Villa it will be a huge psychological boost.

They will have to do that without Roofe, though, and with goals being the problem for Leeds at the moment, his injury couldn’t have come at a worse time.

The only other question mark is over the defensive midfield spot but we believe that Kalvin Phillips has to come back in for Adam Forshaw after being dropped for the 2-0 loss against Brentford.

This is the starting XI we believe Bielsa will trust to get the job done against Aston Villa:
