Ray Parlour believes that Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha could be the ideal man to replace Christian Eriksen at Tottenham.

The Dane’s current contract expires at the end of next season, and with no signs of a new deal being agreed, Spurs face a big decision on whether to sell him this summer instead of risking losing him on a free next year.

There have also been suggestions that Palace could be willing to part with Zaha this summer, as reported in the Daily Mail, and Parlour claims the he would be an ideal fit for Spurs.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “If he does move on, he has been brilliant for Palace. They will get top dollar for him.

“What is a club willing to pay for him? You’re looking at £70 million.

“Certainly, he’s a real talent. If Eriksen goes and they get good money for him, he’s be a good replacement for him probably. He’d be a great signing because he is a quality player.”

OPINION

Tottenham fans would bite your hand off to have Zaha in their squad, as would most supporters of most clubs in world football. It is no exaggeration to suggest that he is the best player outside of the top six, and he probably outstrips a fair few at the bigger clubs as well. He is tricky and intelligent, but also boasts a blistering turn of pace and an eye for goal that makes him a real handful. Would he be the ideal man to replace Eriksen though? No. The Dane brings a sense of authoritative creativity to the side that can only be established by somebody with his vision and range of passing. Zaha would be much more suited to being the one on the end of those passes. Does that mean that Spurs should just give up on any potential pursuit of the Palace man? Of course not, he would be a fine signing, but realistically, he is not the player needed to make up for losing Eriksen.
