Newcastle United have been quoted an unbelievable £30 million to sign Kenedy on a permanent deal this summer, according to the Chronicle, and the Geordie faithful and Mike Ashley will surely be on the same page for once.

The Brazilian has failed to have the impact that he was expected to at St. James’ Park this season after a hugely successful loan spell on Tyneside at the end of last term, and the Magpies will face a decision over whether to pursue a deal for the wide man at the end of his current deal.

It is understood that the Toon Army will not be interested in securing him on a permanent contract, unless the Blues are willing to significantly drop their asking price.

£30 million would be a club record fee for United, and there is no way that Mike Ashley would pull out that kind of cash for a player who hasn’t even made the bench in their last three matches.

Honestly though, if Chelsea refuse to budge and Kenedy is allowed to walk away, most Geordies wouldn’t care. In fact, it would be one of the few occasions when they’re on the same page.

He has shown nothing to suggest that he is worth a £3 million pay out this year, let alone something ten times that amount.

Unless he can find some kind of miraculous purple patch in the little time that remains, the 23-year-old will be out on his ear, and that would probably be a good thing.

How and why Chelsea are demanding as much as they are is anybody’s guess, but truthfully, this could be a blessing in disguise for Newcastle.
