Many Tottenham fans were no doubt in dreamland when Fernando Llorente scored the goal that secured them a semi-final spot in the Champions League semi-final.

Heung min-son also had his part to play, and the fact that he is suspended for their first leg against Ajax on 30 April would have disheartened supporters everywhere, especially with Harry Kane also out injured once again.

So who exactly do they turn to? Well, step forward Lucas Moura.

The 26-year-old starred in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday, but even though it was not particuarly woeful, his display suggested that Spurs are going to struggle in a few weeks’ time if it is him who has the responsibility of helping lead the attack.

He made some excellent runs all afternoon, but he did not have a sniff on goal in the first half, with his chance in the second half slightly redeeming his display. However, this simply is not good enough heading into one of the most important matches of the season with a number of star players absent.

The £80,000-a-week [Spotrac] player needs to really step it up a notch if he is to ensure that Mauricio Pochettino is in dreamland on the night of the semi-final. We all know he has the quality to set the fans’ hearts soaring, but more often than not this term, he has blown hot and cold – we never know which Moura is going to turn up on the day.

City goalkeeper Edersen denied him what would have been an equaliser, and while this was desperately unlucky for the Brazilian, he needs to be taking his chances a lot better. He was good, but he needs to be even better come April 30.
