OPINION
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s honeymoon period is over and he might now be finding out, if he didn’t already realise, that the Old Trafford job is going to be a tough one. Two defeats to Wolves in a matter of weeks has seen them knocked out of the FA Cup and delivered a big dent to their top-four hopes. On a night when they could have soared up to third in the table, the 2-1 defeat to Wolves means that they stay in fifth having played a game more than their rivals. Worse, it was a really disappointing display from Solksjaer’s men – in particular from the man he’d seemingly inspired back to top form, Paul Pogba. The Man United midfielder was utterly anonymous in last night’s game at Molineux. He gave the ball away way too much and was never looking for a forward pass. United look to him in games like this and all too often recently he has been found wanting. Pogba wasn’t the only culprit in red last night – Ashley Young was awful and got himself sent off – but he was the player who could have affected a positive change for his manager. One fan also made mention of him ‘flirting’ with Real Madrid, after saying it would be a ‘dream’ to play for them over the international break. That wasn’t clever. As it is, the board will no doubt be hoping that this isn’t a revert-to-the-mean after a string of brilliant results secured the job for Solksjaer. At best, it shows how much work is needed over the summer.
Here are the best reactions from United fans to Poghba’s shocker on Wednesday night:
I owe Pogba a huge apology for ever questioning his professionalism. I felt he’d downed tools earlier on in the season however he didn’t, that’s just how he plays ??

I guess Pogba is already doing a medical for Real Madrid since he has yet to show up…?

Pogba's gone back to his Mourinho performances.

I’m sorry but Pogba got to go… so does most of our XI. Not good enough.

Pogba, if you want to leave you can. He is playing like he doesn't want to be in this club anymore. You are not bigger than the club. #MUFC #1MUN
