OPINION
Why do some Liverpool fans have to be so negative? Joel Matip has been the focus of most of their criticism in the first-half against Cardiff and we simply cannot work out why because the Cameroon international has played quite well in the Reds’ backline. Not only has he defended well, he has also been very good on the ball and sparked some of Liverpool’s attacking play with his ability to run with the ball and move it on to the midfielders. Liverpool will go top of the Premier League table if they beat Cardiff but you wouldn’t guess that with some of the tweets on social media about Matip. Liverpool have not lost a single league game with the ex-Schalke defender on the pitch this season and he has been very solid alongside Virgil van Dijk in recent weeks. Give the guy a break, he is one of the most under-rated players at Anfield at the moment.

Shocking that by Matip and Trent to give Cardiff that opportunity.

Matip with #LFC slow play once again causing @LFC own issues instead of playing a pace the Cardiff will not deal with? #CARLIV Come On #klopp take it to them?

For a guy of Matip’s size he is very weak in 1v1 physical battles..
