Leeds left-back Leif Davis has confirmed he is injured after posting an Instagram story revealing that his “Op went well”.

Some Leeds fans thought the 19-year-old might have a chance of starting the game against Aston Villa on Sunday, after an injury to Ezgjan Alioski.

However, Marcelo Bielsa confirmed that Stuart Dallas would play at left-back on Sunday, and Davis has revealed he will play no part in the game.

Bielsa also confirmed on Friday that Roofe was out with a hip injury, in yet another blow to Leeds’ promotion hopes.

Davis updated his story on his official Instagram page on Friday afternoon.

OPINION

Leeds fans are going to think they’re cursed. Marcelo Bielsa hasn’t had a full squad to pick from all season and now, at the business end, he’s been hit with injuries to Roofe, Alioski and now Leif Davis. Davis only made one start this season but ironically that was in the 3-2 win against Aston Villa in the game at Villa Park. Some fans thought he would be in with a shot at another start after Alioski’s injury but that’s gone out the window now. For what it’s worth, we think Dallas would have started the game anyway – his first in 2019 – but Davis must have been in with a good shot at the bench. We’re not sure exactly what’s wrong with Davis but it doesn’t look like he’ll be back now until next season. One thing is certain – if Leeds manage to win promotion in the face of all these injuries, Marcelo Bielsa will have worked a miracle. That miracle will probably have to take place through the play-offs now.
