Leeds United are in the hunt to sign Admira Wacker centre-forward Sasa Kalajdzic, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that Crystal Palace, Brighton, Red Bull Salzburg, Espanyol, Nice and Genk are also interested in the 21-year-old, who is on the verge of being called up to the Austria international squad having scored five goals in his last five league appearances.

Leeds are said to have watched the 6ft 5 colossus and he is seen as a potential cheap option for Crystal Palace as uncertainty plagues the future of Christian Benteke.

Good move for Leeds?

It would not be a good idea for Leeds to pursue Kalajdzic simply based on his last five appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga as signings like this need to be thoroughly scouted to ensure they are good enough to step up to the level of English football.

However if Victor Orta and his scouts have done their homework and are impressed by the giant target man, then why not?

He could be a good shrewd addition to the club’s strike force.

Kalajdzic’s height and aerial presence is something that Leeds currently lack in their attack, so adding someone who has those qualities – and is also young and in form – could be a clever signing.

Likely to happen?

A lot of clubs are reportedly interested in Kalajdzic, and some of them are going to have a bigger pulling power than Leeds.

Crystal Palace and Brighton are more than likely going to be Premier League clubs next season while there are also top-flight teams from across Europe also in pursuit of the striker.

It seems like Leeds must win promotion in order to stand a chance of signing the Austrian giant.
