COMMENTARY
While Sunday might have huge ramifications in terms of the top of the Premier League table, it was two sides battling it out among the Championship which caught the attention of the footballing world in the shape of Leeds United and Aston Villa. The two giants of English football were involved in a controversial brawl which caused much debate among pundits and supporters the globe over. It even had Premier League legend Arsene Wenger piping up, the Frenchman a pundit for beIN Sports, and the former Arsenal man was left applauding the sportsmanship of Marcelo Bielsa, calling the Argentine’s actions “remarkable” after the Leeds boss ordered his players to allow Villa to net an uncontested effort. Unsurprisingly the Leeds faithful were delighted to see their manager picking up the plaudits from such an icon of the game and took to Twitter to voice their respect for Wenger’s views. No one knows if the French boss would have followed Bielsa’s lead in doing the same, although these Leeds fans certainly seem to think he is cut from the same cloth as the man leading their side this season.
This is Futbol has gathered a selection of the supporters’ tweets:
