Sheffield United have been hit with a double injury blow ahead of the Easter weekend fixtures, and Leeds fans are delighted.

Things are tight at the top of the Championship and Leeds fans are desperate for any edge they can get.

Sheffield United are in third place in the league, three points behind Leeds, and they play in the early kick-off against Nottingham Forest on Friday.

Talking at his pre-match press conference, ahead of the game, manager Chris Wilder has confirmed that Billy Sharp and Chris Basham are both going to miss the game through injury. They will also be without John Egan, who was sent off for handling on the line in United’s last game.

He was quoted by Yorkshire Post journalist Richard Sutcliffe on Wednesday morning.

There’s no doubt this is a major blow for Sheffield United, who are showing signs of running out of steam. They’ve only won one in the last four, after winning six and drawing just one of their previous seven.

Leeds fans, as you might expect, don’t have much sympathy and you can forgive them this with the stakes so high. Plus, Leeds have suffered way more than their fair share of injuries this season. The fans will see this is a little levelling out, although one was outraged that Egan was only getting a one-game suspension – he’ll be back for the game against Hull on Monday.
