Some players are just destined for cult status at a club. Whether it be for their on-field heroics or their off-field antics, there are those professional who ignite the passions and capture the imagination of a fanbase in a certain, almost intangible, way. Take Ezgjan Alioski at Leeds United. The Macedonian has come in for his fair share of stick at Elland Road, perhaps justifiably so, and there was a time, this season even, when he almost seemed to be the whipping boy for supporters when things went wrong on the field. Slowly, however, he has managed to transform that image and fully endear himself to the United faithful. Admittedly, this has largely been through him being repeatedly, and hilariously, downright odd. Take Saturday’s win over Sheffield Wednesday for instance, in the throng of celebration after the game, teammate Pontus Jansson gave him a little peck on the cheek, and Alioski started swinging at him like a madman. And the weird videos keep on coming. Posted on Twitter from LUTV, the latest one comes from behind the scenes at Leeds’ training and sees Stuart Dallas come up behind the 27-year-old and ruffle his hair. It’s fair to say Alioski doesn’t take to kindly to it. Never change Ezgjan, never change.
