OPINION

It has been a long time since anyone talking about Pierre-Michel Lasogga, but for some reason, a number of Leeds United fans on Twitter are suggesting that they would be promoted by now if they had the centre-forward back in their side. Lasogga, 27, left Elland Road at the end of the 2017/18 season after being loaned to the Whites by Hamburg. Since returning to Germany the target man has been in great form, scoring 19 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions. He only netted 10 times in 33 outings for Leeds, but his season was disrupted by an injury just as he was finding his form and Paul Heckingbottom never seem to fancy him that much as he never got a real run of starts. Should Leeds have kept hold of Lasogga? He might not have been able to cope with Marcelo Bielsa’s high-intensity style of player or his training sessions but he would have been a very good option to have up front as well as Patrick Bamford. Maybe Leeds should have tried to sign Lasogga for at least another year just to give themselves an extra way of scoring goals.
