COMMENTARY

The pressure is building at Leeds United and you can sense the tension among the supporters on Twitter. With Sheffield United having sealed a comfortable victory against Hull City the Elland Road faithful knew they needed to see a win of their own to stay in touch with the Blades but the first 45 minutes against Brentford was anything but comfortable. The Whites were wasteful and there was perhaps no one more culpable than striker Patrick Bamford, who was torn to pieces by fans on social media. Other than a penalty shout which seemed to wrongly go against him the former Boro man was ineffectual up front in the first half and as a result there was little cutting edge on show from his teammates either. Knowing that three points is an absolute must, maybe the pressure is getting too much for the striker – if that is the case, then Leeds can wave their promotion hopes goodbye.
