Everton right-back Seamus Coleman is somebody who has been blowing hot and cold this season, and Jonjoe Kenny has been fighting every step of the way to usurp him.
There have been times when the 22-year-old could have taken his place in the starting XI, but unfortunately for him, it has just not worked out the way he had planned this season, with only nine Premier League appearances to his name.
He has the potential to be a real quality player for the Toffees, that is for sure, but at the moment, his game time is going be few and far between, and that is something that could seriously derail his development.
In order to have the best possible chance of making a success of himself at Goodison Park, Marco Silva must sort out a loan exit for the fringe player – as staying put at the moment means that he will be sitting on the bench quite a lot of the time.
Kenny is no doubt a star of the future for Everton, he has showed glimpses of that this season when he has had to fill in for injuries, but Silva knows himself that his minutes are limited. Coleman may show signs of shakiness, but overall, he is the most reliable option at right-back as he is able to defend as well as attack effectively.
Defending is often something that lets Kenny down a lot of the time, and it is one of the main reasons why he needs be loaned out. If he does not, then his future on Merseyside could go to waste.
He has the majority of the attributes to be great at Everton, and greenlighting a loan exit is the best way of allowing him to hone his skills.
