Inter Milan are interested in signing Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to the Mirror.

The 87 cap Danish intentional has yet to agree an extension on his current £75,000-a-week deal in north London, which is due to expire at the end of nest season.

That leaves Spurs with a decision to make; whether to sell him now or risk losing him for nothing in a year’s time.

And according to the report, Eriksen’s situation has alerted Inter Milan, who have joined Real Madrid in the race for his signature.

Good move for Tottenham?

Absolutely not. Losing Eriksen would be a disaster, plain and simple. How are you meant to replace a player that brings as much as he does to the team? The vision and poise he exudes from the centre of the park is genuinely world class, and the money it would take to sign a replacement of his calibre would be eye-watering. The other question is, of course, who is actually on his level? Sure, there are midfielders who could probably match Eriksen in his output, but they currently play for the biggest teams in Europe, and for good reason. This would be a nightmare.

Likely to happen?

If Eriksen doesn’t sign a new deal, then yes. It might not be Inter who win the race, but from a Spurs perspective, does it really matter where he’s going if he’s going full stop? The chances are that, provided no solution is reached, he will go to Europe, and if he is going to the continent, then where he ends up is irrelevant. At the moment, you would probably be tempted to lea further towards him departing than staying put, but this is professional football, the greater soap opera of them all, and any amount of twists and turns could happen before this saga is resolved.
