Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden should cost suitors in the region of £15million-plus if he is to finally secure the exit he has been looking for this summer, according to journalist Andrew Musgrove.

In an analysis of the central enforcer, the Chronicle journalist stated that a player in the sort of form the 24-year-old is in, coupled with his contract status, means that the Magpies could demand an eight figure fee for a man who has been a mainstay in the side.

It is widely known that Hayden is seeking an exit from St James’ Park for family reasons and the report claims that Aston Villa and West Brom are keen on his capture.

Opinion

Hayden has been sublime for Newcastle in recent weeks and every good game he has only ramps up the price tag on his head. The unfortunate thing for Hayden is that the better he plays, the less clubs will feel they can afford to sign him and therefore he is stuck in a catch-22 situation. Newcastle are not in a position where they can accept a cut-price deal for his sale, for they need every single penny to fund transfer deals of their own. It will be interesting to see how the summer goes for Hayden and where he ends up, with a departure seemingly an inevitability. It would be a big loss for Newcastle, who have been brilliant with him in the middle of the park, but at the same time they cannot keep a player on board who is unhappy at St James’ Park. Hopefully, for the player’s sake, there can be some sort of agreement made, for his personal life comes first, football second.
